Support for Western NC Communities
The devastation of the recent hurricane in Western North Carolina is shocking many and breaking hearts. The people of these amazing communities are bonding together to serve one another, but need hope and love in this time.
I’m planning to join some relief teams to get into those areas with supplies and an open ear and heart. Praying about timing for this trip since the area is currently so devastated that most of the work is still “search and rescue”.
I’ll never forget leading a team of seventy students into Biloxi Mississippi after Katrina hit in 2006. Some of our greatest ministry was simply sitting in a local park with water and a guitar, bringing joy and peace to those who were hurting so badly. My vision for this trip is similar.
UPDATE: 12/23 - God allowed us to get into the mountains for prayer and refreshment, and while there we took a massive load of clothing, dishes, pots & pans and housewares to a servant team in Sylva for re-distribution. The plan is to take more this next week as we head to Pigeon Forge, TN for a family reunion.
