Worship in Jamaica

My recent trip back home to Jamaica gave me an opportunity to connect once again with my brothers and sisters in the fellowship of evangelical churches there.  Attending the Ash Wednesday conference in the Saint Elizabeth area reminded me of the fervor and joy found in believers connecting heart to heart in large gatherings.

A greater blessing was seeing the young team that led worship for the day. In both hours, the young men who had started their worship journey at one of our worship band camps led the entire conference group. Instrumentalists played who had come through as well. It is so gratifying when you're able to see work that God has allowed you to be a part of continuing to flourish.

Next up: reaching the next generation of leaders there in Jamaica.  Our current plan is to return for a winter training time in which we would prayerfully ignite a flame and a passion in the next generation of young people God will raise up to be a part of this movement of over 70 churches. Our goal is to equip the leaders to do the training so the approach will be a master class with the leaders, who will then lead the camp.

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of our first trip back in Jamaica with the team from North Carolina.  It was on that trip that we left our instruments there as we left so that the teams could be equipped and trained from that location.  Now we move on to the next generation.
